This is a very rare watercolour by this artist, very few come to the market. This particular watercolour is fully signed and the artist has provided a firm nod to Gerrit Dou by adding his name to the window pane to the left of the scene.
Van Der Pals was a highly respected and well renowned collector of his day and many extremely famous paintings used to hang on his walls. It is almost certain that he painted this direct from the original.
